some of the major automotive headlamp companys must have overlooked one of the most popular sports cars around in the states when it comes to lighting upgrades...the 93-97 camaro, and Z28 camaro. as well as other cars that take the h4651 sealed beam headlight (pontiac grand prix, geo storm, etc. still to this day i have not found a company that makes an upgrade sealed beam kit for this car. there is a cheap way to upgrade this particular type of sealed beam though...the bulb inside the sealed beam, as well as the plug in in the back, is identical to the 9006 /9005 bulbs. so if your thinking of upgrading to silverstar, or hid lighting...there are 2 methods. the lazy more expensive method..lightoptics.com has a sealed beam upgrade kit that allows twist in bulbs to be used inside a modified sealed beam housing (approx $50 a housing x4 for camaros{4headlight system}) or theres a method i have discovered some otehr camaro owners have come up with..remove the sealed beam bulbs from your car, and take a screwdriver and pry out the bulb from the sealed beam...after this is done, clean around the glass or matal opening. then get a 9006 (low) or 9005 (high) bulb and some RTV silicone/sealant (@ any auto parts store, wallmart, fred myers) plage the bulb inside the sealed beam and use the silicone to seal all the way around the bulb backing, and the sealed beam opening (basically glueing them together and adding a layer on the outside to seal the beam)note: do not get any silicone on the glass of the actual bulb, or touch the glass of the actual bulb, or when it gets hot, it will burst. additional note: the bulbs plug should be facing the right side on the back of the sealed beam when it is top side up. after you seal the beam, get a large clamp, or something to keep slight pressure on the bulb to keep it in place, then let sit overnight (RTV takes 24 hrs to fully cure..if your impatient like me, use superglue to attach the bulb to the sealed beam, and silicone to seal around it takes 4hrs to cure) the next morning the bulb should be ready to go back into the car for use :) enjoy. (please note: sylvania and all other automotive lighting companys will not warranty their bulbs if you choose this method, so be sure to test the bulbs prior to installing them in the sealed beams!!!!) total cost about $55-60 for 2 beams $100-110 for all 4 beams

Well, there is yet ANOTHER option should you Camaro owners want to upgrade to HID. Since there is no aftermarket manufacturer that produces HID replacements for your Camaro, you could always retrofit projectors into the headlight housing. You will have to fabricate a mounting method, however, I have seen pictures on the internet and I am trying to find the site. The pictures that I remember seeing were very impressive. Check back here every so often...and I'll see if I can drum up that website!

For all you camaro lover's there is yet another website to do it the RIGHT way. www.autooptiks.com is where I have gotten my conversion kit. It works great. Now don't get me wrong, I have also tried to do it the cheap way and thats ok if every time your light burns out you want to re-glue it every time. The lights at Autooptiks are $50 dollars a pair, not each. I got the whole set with Eurolite 9005&9006k bulbs for 135.00 and I am much happier. The projector beams your are talking about are nothing more than mini fog lights. I went that route to. I was very disappointed when i recieved them. there is no special bracket, just fit into normal housing and plug up in a normal relay parralel to high beams so they both run at the same time. I still have these light s at home. My next goal is the HID look for all lights. I already have LED side markers so it really brings out the meaness of the front end. I have had my camaro since it was new. And have been searching for aftermarket parts since then.I have a list of other places for other Bolt-on products. If any questions you may e-mail me at Harshcamaro@aol.com
